Trompe l'oeil

What is trompe l'oeil? It is "fool the eye" realist painting. This type of painting is done with a shallow depth of field, and an emphasis on detail. Each Portfolio II student created the model from which she is painting. The painting stage was preceded by detailed drawings, where object placement (compostiton) and full tonal values were stressed. Watch for the finished paintings to appear in a future post.
